A cleaning whizz has revealed six cleaning tricks she wishes she had known earlier.

Lese Mmolotsi, a digital creator based in Ireland, regularly shares cleaning tips with her 541,000 Instagram followers and 50,000 TikTok fans, where she’s received 3.5 million likes. The cleaning expert posted a video on TikTok revealing six cleaning hacks for tackling grime on mattresses, radiators, rugs and more, describing them as “effective” methods that work for her.

First up, she suggests rubbing candle wax on sink taps to make them shine again and remove any marks. While many people have candles or wax burners at home for their pleasant aroma, according to Lese, candle wax can also be used for cleaning.

To remove stains from mattresses, she uses shaving cream, applying a generous amount to the mattress, scrubbing it over the stained area with a brush, and then wiping it with a cloth. Her next trick is to sprinkle bicarbonate of soda on a carpet or rug to “deodorise” it.

Bicarbonate of soda is a common cleaning product, but you might not have thought to use it this way. Lese sprinkles the product all over the carpet before vacuuming it up.

Her fourth cleaning tip involves using a hairdryer to get rid of dust gathered on a radiator. She simply moves the hairdryer across the top of the radiator and places a rug underneath to catch all the dust.

To keep her bin smelling fresh, she tosses cotton balls soaked in essential oil into it. Her fifth hack involves using a flat mop to effortlessly clean kitchen cabinets by simply pouring some washing up liquid in the sink, soaking the mop head, and then using vertical motions to scrub her cupboards clean.

The final tip shared on her TikTok demonstrates how she applies Colgate toothpaste directly onto shower grout, brushing it thoroughly to cover the area affected and finally rinsing with water and wiping dry with a cloth. Lese’s TikTok video has received an impressive 2.6 million views, 242,000 likes, and an influx of over 400 comments.

In her video caption, she wrote: “Effective cleaning hacks that work for me! Try them, they will work for you too!” Fellow TikToker users couldn’t hold back their amazement in the comments.

They were particularly astounded by her innovative hairdryer method, as one user exclaimed “the hairdryer hack on the radiator is genius”, another confessed “ngl (not going to lie) using a hairdryer on the radiator is genius” and a third person wrote “definitely trying that hairdryer trick for the radiator!”

Another commented in awe: “Flat mop on cupboards. Oh GENIUS.” And a further user remarked: “Some of the ideas are brilliant.”
