John Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski has had a Highlander reboot in the works for years.

Christopher Lambert’s 1986 original followed an immortal Scottish swordsman from his 16th-century origins to the present day.

The film has been green-lit with Henry Cavill in the starring role, and it turns out his Superman dad, Russell Crowe, is joining the cast in the Sean Connery mentor role.

And now Cavill has shared two first-look images of the epic Highlander movie.

Posting on Instagram two snaps of his titular character Connor MacLeod in a church and a Buddhist temple, Cavill captioned it: “Happy First Look for Highlander! This has been quite the journey for me, which I’ll tell you all about when the time is right, but it’s a special moment to be able to share this. I hope you enjoy. #Highlander.”

Highlander’s release is TBC.
