An adorable dog was was left abandoned on the streets after surviving unthinkable cruelty at the hands of her former owner. Poor Juni was spotted quivering on the side of a road by rescuer Lauren Daigle, who has since shared the pooch’s heartbreaking story on social media.

Lauren, from Nebraska, America, has been on a mission to bring justice for Juni after learning about the hardship she has been through. In her TikTok video, she said: “I found an abandoned dog along the road. Little did we know that she had been shot in the head twice, skin and bones but alive.”

Speaking through tears, she added: “I was driving down the highway today and I found a stray dog. I took her to the vet because she was bleeding from her mouth.

“The vet said that somebody shot her. The shots missed her brain and eye by mere centimetres.”

Thankfully, since her rescue, Juni has found a warm, loving home where she can live in peace and experience the love humans can give. The video’s caption adds: “We know more than we can say for now. Now she has a name.

“Now she has a bed. Now she knows love. Her name is Juni. And she’s surviving for every voiceless animal that couldn’t.”

Lauren says the police have been informed about the situation and the previous owners have been located.

She added: “She wagged her tail yesterday and it made my day. I cannot wait to see her get the joy back in her eyes. We met with the breeder today, know who the previous owner is, putting together our evidence and giving it to the sheriffs in both counties as our first step.”

Commenting on her video, which has more than 11 million videos, one user said: “Justice for Juni. Girl, now it’s time to thrive. Thank you for saving this baby.”

Another user said: “I don’t know how God could create a human who ended up with so much hate in their heart to harm a defenseless sweet dog. They are a gift for us to help us heal. Why would one harm a healing animal.”

A final user added: “It’s a beagle. They are the sweetest dog. That’s why they use them for research as they’re so forgiving – it’s horrible what they’ve done. I hate cruel people. Thank you for rescuing.”
