The real life tale of one man’s ambition received an 83 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes having captivated audiences with its striking visuals and a high-wire protagonist. The Walk which was released in 2015 is now available to stream on Netflix. The triumphant true story centres around a young boy Philippe Petit dreams of performing daring feats for dazzled crowds.

As an adult (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), his life’s ambition comes true when he becomes a high-wire artist who stares death in the face with every step. Under the guidance of mentor Papa Rudy, the French daredevil devises a plan to walk on a tightrope attached to the north and south towers of the World Trade Center. With help from his team and against all odds, Petit attempts the seemingly impossible stunt on August 7, 1974.

Viewers have praised the thrilling flick as one wrote on Rotten Tomatoes: “It’s artistic! It’s inspiring! It’s a true story of a dream being completed through persistence! ‘All artists are anarchists to some degree.’ Indeed if you’re an artist, you will not want to miss this!!”

A second shared: “The acting in this movie is superb. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is amazing as Philippe Petit and really does a good job showing how insane Petit really was. Charlotte Le Bon also does a fine job portraying Petit’s girlfriend, and Ben Kingsley gives a good performance as Petit’s mentor. All the supporting cast give great performances as well.”

“I adored this movie it was good! Like seriously if I had a kid I would want him/her to watch this film. I loved how he had such a crazy unbelievable and seemed impossible dream but in the end he made his dream come to life. That’s a wonderful lesson,” a third penned.

A fourth added: “It’s sad that many people don’t understand and appreciate how beautiful and inspiring this movie truly is. Just because it moves at a slower pace and doesn’t have any sex or violence people think it’s pointless when it’s really one big commentary on life. This movie shows how everyone should chase their dreams whatever they may be.”

Following its premiere at the New York Film Festival, The Walk was released by TriStar Pictures on September 30, 2015 in the United States and received positive reviews from critics.

The film is dedicated to the victims of the September 11 attacks.
