Harriet Sperling was the picture of elegance as she arrived at All Saints Church, Kemble, this afternoon to marry King Charles’s nephew, Peter Phillips. The couple, who announced their engagement back in August, married in a private ceremony in Gloucestershire, surrounded by family and friends.

For the special occasion, Harriet embraced a timeless bridal aesthetic created by Emelia Wickstead. The sophisticatred white wedding gown balanced royal tradition with understated elegance. The dress featured delicate lace detailing across the sleeves and bodice, a design element that immediately drew comparisons to Princess Catherine’s iconic Alexander McQueen wedding dress worn for her marriage to Prince William in 2011.

Like the Princess of Wales, Harriet appeared to favour a romantic and refined silhouette, allowing intricate craftsmanship to take centre stage rather than relying on dramatic embellishments.

Adding to the fairy-tale feel of the day was Harriet’s breathtaking cathedral-length veil, which swept behind her as she made her way towards the church. Finished with delicate scalloped edging, the dramatic design created a striking bridal moment despite the grey skies and persistent rain that greeted guests throughout much of the afternoon.

The bride completed her look with earrings by Pragnell and the Pragnell Family Tiara, bringing an added touch of timeless glamour to the occasion. Elegant Jimmy Choo heels peeped out beneath her gown, while her bouquet, created by florist Millie Richardson, featured sweet peas, lily of the valley and myrtle.

The inclusion of myrtle was particularly poignant. The flower holds significance in both Harriet’s family and the Royal Family, where it has long symbolised love, beauty and peace, making it a fitting choice for the couple’s special day.

Harriet’s beauty look was equally refined. Wearing her hair swept into an elegant updo beneath the tiara and veil, the bride allowed the intricate detailing of the gown and accessories to remain firmly in focus. The pared-back styling only enhanced the timeless feel of the overall look, proving that sometimes simplicity makes the biggest statement.

One of the sweetest moments came as Harriet approached the church entrance. Her daughter, Georgina, joined Peter’s daughters, Savannah and Isla Phillips, in helping to carry the bride’s lengthy veil. The touching gesture highlighted the close bond between the newly blended family and provided one of the most heartwarming images of the day.

The young bridesmaids complemented Harriet’s bridal look perfectly, wearing coordinating ivory dresses – also designed by Emilia Wickestead who created her gown.

Meanwhile, the bride’s brother Nicholas walked Harriet down the aisle in honour of their late father Mr Rupert Sanders.

The King and Queen, the Prince and Princess of Wales, Zara and Mike Tindall and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were among those to descend on the small village of Kemble, near Cirencester in Gloucestershire, for Peter’s second wedding.

The Princess Royal, the groom’s mother, and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, were also part of the proceedings, as well as Peter’s father, Captain Mark Phillips.

The wedding reception will take place at Princess Anne’s nearby Gatcombe Park estate in Minchinhampton, where the couple have a home.

The wedding also falls on the same day as the Epsom Derby, with the King and Queen set to travel from the ceremony to the racecourse, ready to watch the highlight of the racing season and present the trophy to the winner.

Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling made their debut at the Badminton Horse Trials in Gloucestershire in May 2024. They have since been pictured everywhere from the Royal Family’s Easter service to Royal Ascot and cheering on Prince William at a charity polo match.

The couple announced their wedding date back in April. A statement at the time read: “Mr Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips and Ms Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr Rupert Sanders and Mrs Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today announced their wedding date.

“The summer wedding will take place at All Saints Church, Kemble, Cirencester on Saturday 6th June 2026 in a private ceremony. Both families have been informed jointly of the wedding date by invitation.

“Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales have also been informed of the announcement. Further details will be announced in due course.”
