Gelo And GloRilla’s ‘Can You Please’ Song
The “Tweaker” follow-up feels like another aughts-inspired club banger
Liangelo “Gelo” Ball’s highly anticipated single is here — with GloRilla as a guest. Tonight, the “Tweaker” MC released “Can You Please,” another uptempo track that feels like a 2000s throwback. “Can you please? Shake that ass for me,” he pleads on the track’s hook, setting turn-up vibes that parallel to his “Tweaker” hit. “When you link up with a king, you’ll never face defeat,” he proclaims on the braggadocious verse chronicling a fun night out in the club.
GloRilla follows Gelo’s verse with her inimitable North Memphis swagger, rhyming about getting head and letting us know, “Say I’m the best he ever had? Ah for real? No shit,” pushing through the song’s thumping bass drum and spooky keys with her emphatic delivery.
The collaboration follows Gelo’s “Tweaker,” a polarizing track that was the first big song of the year. While some enjoyed the New Orleans vibe, others were dismayed that a basketball player could garner so much hype with their track. The song peaked at number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was the catalyst for his lucrative deal with Def Jam. He then dropped a remix with Lil Wayne in early February.
