Track will appear on the Brooklyn band’s upcoming third album, Getting Killed, out in September

Brooklyn rock outfit Geese have officially confirmed their return with a new song “Taxes,” that’ll appear on their upcoming album, Getting Killed, out Sept. 26 via Partisan Records.

“Taxes” feels like a bit of a bridge between frontman Cameron Winter’s acclaimed solo record, Heavy Metal, and what Geese have cooked up together for Getting Killed. The track begins with Winter’s distinct vocals warbling and wobbling over a tender percussion groove. More instruments start to sift in, and then, halfway through, the song erupts with a bright burst of guitars: “Doctor, doctor, heal yourself,” Winter yelps, “And I will break my own heart/I will break my own heart from now on.”

Accompanying “Taxes” is a new music video, which begins with a camera pushing its way through a packed crowd at a Geese concert. Once it’s set, however, the song hits that midpoint launch, and the visuals take off with it, careening into a kaleidoscopic burst of moshing, shredding, and seemingly unfettered euphoria that quickly descends into strange violence and cannibalistic chaos.

Geese recorded Getting Killed with producer Kenneth Blume in Los Angeles over a month-long stretch. The album marks Geese’s third proper studio album and first since 2023’s 3D Country (which featured on Rolling Stone’s list of the 40 Best Indie-Rock Albums of that year). In 2024, they released their first live album, Alive & In Person.

Geese already have a North American headlining tour lined up in support of Getting Killed, which starts Oct. 10 in South Burlington, Vermont and wraps with a pair of hometown shows at the Paramount in Brooklyn on Nov. 20 and 21. Many of the shows have already sold out, while a handful of additional dates have been added in some cities. Geese will receive support from Racing Mount Pleasant and Dove Ellis on select dates throughout the run.
