On his upcoming album, Gabito Ballesteros is looking for old-school romance — and he’s not doing it alone. Rolling Stone can exclusively reveal the all-star lineup featured on the Mexican singer’s upcoming album, Ya No Se Llevan Serenatas.

The record will include collaborations Mexican music stars such as Carin Leon on “Regalo de Dios,” Christian Nodal on “Qué Vegas Hago,” and Natanael Cano on “Dosis de Amor” and Presidente, which also features Luis R. Conriquiez. He’ll also team up with reggaeton icon J Balvin on “La Troka.”

“The collaborations on this album are all with artists who are my friends: People I deeply respect as colleagues, and that’s why I wanted them to be part of this record,” Ballesteros tells Rolling Stone. “Each song was crafted specifically with each artist in mind, hoping they’d connect with it and genuinely like it. I wanted them to feel like each song was theirs, not just another feature.”

The LP seems to skip corridos altogether, as Ballesteros says the album “represents a big shift” in his music, opting for both romantic and heartbreak songs instead.

“I tapped into something deeper within me, something I’ve always loved doing from the heart,” Ballesterso says. “This record also reflects the growth I’ve had as a singer, both vocally and in my interpretation. I took part in writing all the songs, which also reveals my inner self when it comes to love.”

About his cross-genre collaboration with J Balvin, Ballesteros said he accepted the idea to work with him “without hesitation.” “It’s truly an honor to have him on my album… For me, it’s a dream to be collaborating with artists I grew up listening to and admiring,” he says.

Along with its numerous collaborations, the album also features two different versions of the song “Area 51,” which Ballesteros says reimagines the tracks in different production styles. “Each one has something special that sets it apart, and honestly, I couldn’t decide between the two,” he says.

Tito Double P, Neton Vega, Armenta, and Oscar Maydon are also featured on the record. “With this album, I hope people return to romanticism, cry, fall in love, feel each song the way I feel them,”he says. “But above all, identify with each song and sing it with a lot of feeling in my shows.”
