‘Freaky’ horror film fans warn is not for the faint hearted is streaming | Films | Entertainment

Horror film enthusiasts are in a frenzy over a movie that has “scared the daylights” out of them.

At the centre of this highly-praised “suspense thriller” is Taxi Driver and The Godfather II legend Robert De Niro, who portrays widowed psychologist David Callaway.

Following the unexpected suicide of his wife, David and his traumatised daughter Emily (Dakota Fanning) relocate to upstate New York for a new beginning.

However, in an attempt to cope with her loss, Emily invents an imaginary friend named Charlie, who proves to be menacing and aggressive, triggering a sequence of unsettling incidents.

But all is not as it appears in the 2005 film Hide and Seek, as fans have been incessantly highlighting its “shocking ending”.

On IMDb, one viewer noted there’s a “plot twist I didn’t expect”, with another commenting: “The ending is definitely a surprise” and a third agreeing: “The ending was a big shocker to me.”

Whilst De Niro leads the cast of this “intriguing suspense thriller”, he is accompanied by actress Dakota Fanning, known for her roles in The Watchers, Netflix‘s The Perfect Couple and All Her Fault.

However, similar to her sister Elle Fanning, Dakota began her career as a child actress, appearing not only in Hide and Seek but also War of the Worlds, Uptown Girls and I Am Sam.

Horror enthusiasts are now fortunate as Hide and Seek became available on Sunday, March 1, on the complimentary streaming platform Tubi, allowing audiences to watch at their convenience.

Continuing to praise the film, a fan remarked: “Amazing horror, actually giving the creepy vibe and keeping you on your toes.”

A fellow fan cautioned: “Not recommended for the faint of heart”, whilst someone else said: “This thriller scared the daylights out of me.

“I loved it and the ride was so intense I thought I’d burst at the end of the movie.”

Meanwhile, others revealed they were “absolutely on the edge of my seat the entire time” and “totally freaked out”, with one describing it as “one of my favourite movies”.
