Fetty Wap had the help of 50 Cent during his three years in federal prison. In his first interview since being released, the “Trap Queen” rap star shared that 50 Cent provided him with both emotional and financial support while he was behind bars.

“50 did a lot for me,” Fetty said. “From day one, it was like, ‘Whatever you need, just holler at me.’ I’m like, ‘All right.’ Then [he] was like, ‘Where this money going?’ I’m like, ‘What?’ I ain’t used to that. I’m used to it’s always the other way around.”

Fetty explained that 50 Cent was “right there” for “whatever” he needed. “He answered the phone. He didn’t shy off all the way down to the time I’m about to come home, ‘How you getting home?’” the rapper said. “As far as financial and mental help, he was probably there the biggest.”

50 Cent shared the clip of Fetty’s interview on Instagram, writing in the caption that Fetty is “ready to work. He good I got him, let’s get it.”

Fetty, who pleaded guilty to a drug charge in 2022, was released Thursday from a federal prison in Minnesota, where he was serving a six-year sentence. He will serve the remainder of his sentence, which is due to end Nov. 8, on home confinement in New Jersey, sources told Rolling Stone.

He said in a statement upon his release that he was looking forward to helping at-risk children find access to education and vision care. “I’m committed to moving forward with purpose and making a meaningful impact where it matters most,” he said.

The rap artist received a six-year prison sentence in May 2023 after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess and distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine in 2022. FBI agents arrested him at Rolling Loud New York in 2021. He was one of six people charged with conspiring to possess and distribute more than 100 kilograms of substances from New Jersey to Long Island. Fetty was arrested again in 2022 for allegedly threatening to kill someone during a call over FaceTime.
