Fashion brand and bank branches to shut in latest closures

More and more high street stores have announced upcoming closures, putting hundreds of jobs at risk across the country. Among these are the fashion brand Quiz, which collapsed into administration on February 5, 2026, and a number of Morrisons Daily stores.

This is the second time Quiz has fallen into administration in the space of a year, after collapsing in February 2025, only to be bought immediately by a subsidiary of the founding Ramzan family. However, this time, the brand is set to cease trading by July, with items currently priced under £10 in its closing-down sale. Its website also states that “all remaining stock must be cleared” and “that due to the nature of the sale, all purchases are final.”

Quiz Clothing concessions, which trade from New Look and Matalan stores in the UK, are not involved in this administration process and will continue to trade as normal.

Morrisons have announced that around 100 of their Morrisons Daily stores will be closing. The supermarket said the stores, which were originally taken on as part of a £190 million rescue deal for McColl’s in 2022, were under ongoing review but had been loss-making for some time despite efforts to boost trading.

Elsewhere, Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed another round of bank branch closures. The bank said that more than three-quarters of the branches affected by this latest wave of closures are located within one mile of another Lloyds branch, while 95% have an alternative branch available within five miles.

A Lloyds spokesperson told MoneyWeek: “With access to one of the biggest branch networks in the UK, alongside local banking options like our Community Bankers, the Post Office, PayPoint, plus our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service, we offer our customers more choice and convenience than ever before.”
