Certain dog breeds often come with preconceived notions about their temperament, and when a man filmed himself grooming a breed typically perceived as intimidating, some were quick to defend them as “big babies“.

TikTok user @animalkingdomdoggrooming shared a video of him grooming a Rottweiler, a breed known for its strength, which can sometimes deter people.

The PDSA notes that Rottweilers are “intelligent and active dogs that require plenty of things to keep them active in body and mind. Consistency is key with training. They are incredibly strong, so shouldn’t be left unsupervised with children. You’ll need to have plenty of time to spend with your dog if you’re considering this breed.”

Rottweilers may not be suitable for everyone as they require at least two hours of walking each day. If not properly trained and socialised by a caring owner, their protective instincts could potentially turn into aggression.

However, fans of these beautiful dogs argue that they are misunderstood, as evidenced by the video of the large canine being groomed.

The grooming session began with “big boy Zeus” receiving affectionate pats on the head before being bathed to ensure cleanliness.

The groomer applied shampoo and brushed it through Zeus’s coat before rinsing it off, all while Zeus patiently observed.

Following the bath, Zeus was towel-dried and then dried further using “the power dryer on him”.

The groomer was relieved when Zeus, the Rottweiler, remained calm during his bath. “Thankfully he sits there for me. I was kinda afraid he’d be jumpy and really hard to hold in the tub,” he confessed, but Zeus behaved impeccably.

After the bath, he treated Zeus’s coat with a spritz of avocado mist, followed by a thorough ten-minute brushing session.

To top off the grooming, the Rottweiler was adorned with a green bandana, enhancing his dashing looks, marking the end of a successful pampering.

In the video’s comments, viewers shared their thoughts on the breed. One person commented: “You know everyone says Rottweilers are mean, but single one I have ever meet in my 32 years are GIANT BABIES”.

Another chimed in with affection for the breed, saying, “Awww I love Rotties,” and likening them to “great big teddy bears”.

A TikToker joined in the praise, noting, “He’s a big sweet boy”.

It should be noted that while Rottweilers may not be the best fit for families with small children, they can do well with mature teenagers. It’s crucial to source puppies from reputable breeders and provide proper training.

For those unable to make this commitment, considering another dog breed might be advisable.
