Dehumidifier from Aldi can dry clothes quickly while also preventing mould

Aldi has unveiled a fresh range of ‘winter warmer’ SpecialBuy products, designed to help shoppers stay warm at home throughout the colder season. A key item is an electronic dehumidifier, engineered to accelerate clothes drying, combat mould and improve air quality by extracting excess moisture.

Britain has been hit by a long spell of wet weather so far in 2026, along with some cold snaps – and in these conditions, countless households nationwide will turn up their central heating and opt for drying laundry indoors on radiators or heated drying racks to avoid substantial energy costs. Nevertheless, this can result in elevated moisture levels in the atmosphere, frequently triggering condensation and mould in properties. Dehumidifiers help enhance air quality by extracting surplus moisture, helping to inhibit the development of mould, mildew or dust mites, which can worsen allergies – and make breathing more challenging.

While there’s an extensive selection of dehumidifiers available, Aldi has launched one within its latest SpecialBuy middle aisle collection. The Midi Dehumidifier, costing £89.99, is available to buy in stores now.

The 200W domestic appliance boasts a two-litre reservoir and can extract up to twelve litres of moisture each day, rendering it perfect for controlling dampness throughout your property during the winter months. It’s also equipped with castors, enabling effortless movement across various rooms.

Further specifications include a ‘straightforward’ touch-screen interface, a ‘whisper-quiet’ mode, child lock function, overflow protection and automatic shut-off when the water reservoir reaches capacity.

Placed alongside damp laundry, it can speed up drying times for those seeking to reduce expenses by foregoing tumble dryer usage. The dehumidifier is available only whilst stocks last.

“Designed to help manage moisture at home during the colder months, it can remove up to 12 litres of water a day and has a 2L tank, adjustable humidity settings, a 24-hour timer and a quiet operating mode for use around the house.

“The unit also comes with wheels for easy movement, a simple touch-screen display and a drainage hose for continuous use, making it a useful addition for keeping spaces comfortable and helping clothes dry more quickly.”

According to Which?, the consumer champion, dehumidifiers remove excess moisture from the air, helping to combat condensation, stop mould growth and reduce damp patches on walls. There are two main types available: refrigerant or desiccant models.

The organisation states: “Refrigerant dehumidifiers work by creating a cold surface; when warm, damp air comes into contact with it, water condenses and drips into the water tank. They typically struggle in colder spaces, such as cellars.

“Desiccant: This type has a desiccant wheel that absorbs moisture from the air. An internal heater and fan drive moisture off the wheel so the process can be repeated. They are effective in both warm and cold spaces.”
