Two of contemporary rock & roll’s great frontmen and singer-songwriters, the Hold Steady’s Craig Finn and Drive-By Truckers’ Patterson Hood, are linking up for a co-headlining tour in support of their latest solo records.

The fall tour will find Finn and Hood performing individually and together, and both will be backed by multi-instrumentalist Ben Hackett. The trek kicks off Nov. 5 at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle and wraps Nov. 22 at the 04 Center in Austin. The Nov. 19 show at the Lensic Performing Arts Center in Santa Fe will be a special triple-bill with Alejandro Escovedo.

Tickets for most shows will go on sale June 20 at 10 a.m. local time, with pre-sales taking place June 18 and 19. (Tickets for Hood and Finn’s Nov. 16 show in Phoenix will go on sale in August.) Full info is available on each musician’s website.

In a statement, Finn said Hood and his band the Drive-By Truckers were “a huge inspiration” for the Hold Steady early on. “He is one of my favorite songwriters, and he’s also become a great friend,” Finn continued. “This tour, which will feature us going back and forth with songs and stories, is a dream come true. I expect it to be musical and joyful and can’t wait to get it started.”

As Hood noted in his statement, this is not the first time the pair have toured together. In 2008, the Hold Steady and DBT teamed up for the Rock & Roll Means Well Tour, which he said both bands “consider a landmark in our histories.” Then in 2012, Hood and Finn toured Europe together, which is when, Hood said, their “friendship really took on a next level.”

“Craig and I have a ton of wonderful history, beginning with a mutual admiration for our bands,” Hood said, adding: “I consider Craig a super close friend and one of my most trusted and admired confidants. We’ve been trying to find a way to collaborate again for years and this is finally happening.”
