In the Chinese zodiac, the Dragon is considered the most auspicious of the 12 animals, symbolising success, good fortune, and wisdom.

But as the Chinese New Year approaches and the Year of the Wood Dragon ends, three unsuspecting animal signs will be graced with financial success.

According to Valeria Black, an intuitive tarot card reader, spiritual guide and astrologer, the I Ching hexagram of success this week is Thunder over Fire, which “speaks of the tremendous power that comes with abundance”.

The astrologer noted that those who resist greed will be rewarded with success in achieving their goals this week, between January 6 and January 12.

She claimed that “money flows like a river,” but it will present uniquely for the trio of fortunate signs.

Luckiest Chinese zodiac signs this week

Horse

Valeria predicted that people born in Years of the Horse (1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, and 2014) would have “extremely good financial success this week.” This success will not come out of the blue but rather through diligence, hard work, and personal drive.

A focus on education and learning will emerge, and their importance will be realised. The astrologer urged those who have previously felt financially blocked to protect themselves from “jealousy” by minimising contact with those who don’t encourage success.

As for “lucky charms”, yellow is a powerful colour for those linked to the Horse this week – especially the duller shades like mustard yellow or chalk yellow.

Goat

Financial success looks slightly different this week for people linked to the Goat (born in 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015). Valeria says it will be memorable and “tremendously impacted” by the approaching Lunar New Year 2025.

She noted that working with your hands as a hobby will bring success this week and recommends deepening skills to “pave a golden path” this week.

Acknowledging your financial goals is one way to stay on track, particularly when it comes to being influenced by others’ approach to money and success.

Look out for the colour slate grey this week, particularly in the form of pottery. It might just encourage successful energy to flow, said Valeria.

Snake

Those born in Years of the Snake (1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013) will find their financial success from a learned lesson this week. The astrologer claimed that an open-minded approach will keep information coming to those affiliated with the Snake, and they will “continue to soar high”.

Understanding the power of words is something to be mindful of this week. For those who have felt financially blocked, Valeria urged: “You can place a red paper or cloth charm outside your home with motifs of success, confidence, and victory drawn on it with ink.”

Orange-yellow is deemed a power colour for those born in Snake years, according to the tarot reader. She noted that eating eggs will boost success, as will placing butter-yellow flowers on your work desk.
