Ca7riel and Paco Amoroso Postpone Album, Tour: We ‘Need to Rest’
Ca7riel and Paco Amoroso fans may have to wait a bit longer before hearing their upcoming album, Top of the Hills. On Friday, the duo announced that they will be pushing back their album and forthcoming tour to “rest and heal.”
“We are writing this from the heart to say we are sorry. We got swept up in a level of exposure, pressure, and success that we didn’t know how to handle, and we made hasty, wrong decisions,” the band wrote in a statement posted to their Instagram. “It took us time to realize that we are exhausted and need to rest and heal.”
A rep for the duo confirmed to Rolling Stone on Friday that Top of the Hills‘ release, scheduled for Dec. 20, is postponed until next year, and that the tour is also being pushed.
The upcoming LP is supposed to feature an “audaciously maximalist” sound that “dismantles any of the expectations for what was to come next.” And they were also set to hit the road in the new year, following their five Latin Grammys for their work on Papota. The stars went viral earlier this year, thanks to their Tiny Desk concert in March, and have since found both fan and industry acclaim.
“Top of the Hills was born at a time when things were moving too fast,” the duo wrote in their Dec. 19 statement. “Today, we’ve decided to stop and postpone the album and the tour until further notice.”
They ended their letter, shared in both English and Spanish, by writing: “Thank you for being there, even when we lose our way. We hope to come back when we are ready.”
The post was met with fans celebrating the group for taking time off to focus on themselves, but other some fans wondered if “the kings of marketing were back at it again.” One person commented, “Great marketing strategy. I’m a fan.” Others similarly alluded that the statement may just be part of the group’s promotional antics. (A rep would not confirm if the statement was completely real, but said the album and tour are, in fact, postponed.)
