Tom Hardy fans have been given a treat, as one of his most cherished films is now available to stream at no cost.

Warrior, released more than a decade ago, tells the tale of two estranged, working-class brothers who are compelled to face up to their fractured relationship.

The film’s official synopsis reads: “An estranged family finds redemption in the unlikeliest of places: the MMA ring.

“Tommy (Tom Hardy), an ex-Marine with a tragic past, returns home and enlists his father (Nick Nolte), a recovering alcoholic and former wrestling coach, to train him for “Sparta,” the biggest MMA tournament ever held.

“But when Tommy’s underdog brother, Brendan (Joel Edgerton), fights his way into the tournament, the two brothers must finally confront each other and the forces that pulled them apart.”

In addition to the two leads, the supporting cast features Nick Nolte, Jennifer Morrison, Frank Grillo, Noah Emmerich and Denzel Whitaker.

The film currently holds an impressive 92 per cent popcorn meter rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with audiences heaping praise on the drama throughout the years.

One viewer remarked: “Warrior has outstanding performances from the assembled cast, featuring a thrilling and heart-wrenching story.”

Another commented: “This is the greatest sports movie I have ever watched. I don’t usually feel things when I watch movies, but this one made me very emotional.”

One viewer shared: “Warrior is a gripping, emotionally charged fighting film that balances intense physical combat with deep family drama. Tom Hardy delivers a raw, powerful performance, portraying a man driven by pain and unresolved trauma, while Joel Edgerton brings vulnerability and depth to his role, grounding the story with humanity.”

A fourth person added: “Warrior is one of those movies that you can never get tired of watching, I must have seen it 50 times without exaggeration.”

While one fan commented: “One of the under-appreciated movies of all-time. Incredible writing, acting, and a story that pulls on all of the emotions.”

In preparation for the film, both actors were required to endure a punishing fitness regime, with Tom previously opening up to The Guardian about his demanding schedule, reports the Mirror.

He revealed: “I did two hours boxing a day, two hours muay thai, two hours ju jitsu followed by two hours choreography and two hours of weightlifting seven days a week for three months. So come on! You have to really want to do that, so it was a challenge.”

Warrior is streaming on Tubi and Rakuten TV.
