Big Thief will hit the road this fall, with the band announcing the first leg of their Somersault Slide 360 Tour.

The 20-date run kicks off Sept. 17 at Channel 24 in Sacramento, California and wraps Nov. 7 at the White Oak Music Hall Lawn in Houston. The tour includes stops in Mexico City, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, and Austin, as well as previously-announced gigs at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and Forest Hills Stadium in New York City.

Tickets for all the newly-scheduled gigs will go on sale May 9 at 10 a.m. local time. Full info is available on the Big Thief website

Outside a run of primarily international festival dates last summer, Big Thief have largely been off the road since 2023, when they wrapped touring in support of their celebrated 2022 album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You.

Last summer did, however, mark a major change for the band as they parted ways with bassist Max Oleartchik in July 2024. Specific reasons for the split were not shared, with the band saying only that, “This change was made for interpersonal reasons with mutual respect in our hearts.”

Since releasing Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You, Big Thief have released a handful of songs, including a studio version of live favorite “Vampire Empire.” In February, they dropped Passional Relations, a five-track EP that mostly contained previously unreleased songs written during the sessions for Dragon New Mountain (the EP closer, “Shadow Too,” was a demo from 2018). Big Thief said they would donate most of the proceeds from the EP to relief efforts for the Los Angeles wildfires.

On top of all that, Big Thief vocalist/guitarist Adrianne Lenker released a new solo album, Bright Future, last March, as well as a live album, Live at Revolution Hall, in April of this year. Guitarist Buck Meek and drummer James Krivchenia both dropped solo albums of their own, too, in 2023 and 2025, respectively.
