Last month, Bailey Zimmerman canceled a pair of shows scheduled for May 27 and 30 at the Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico, claiming that he had “not been feeling well.” But according to documents obtained by Rolling Stone, there was more behind the cancellations.

On June 18, an arrest warrant was issued for the country singer on charges of felony criminal damage. Zimmerman, 26, allegedly trashed his hotel room at the Sandia Resort, which claims he caused $16,000 in damage. After being unable to contact Zimmerman, a warrant was issued for his arrest. TMZ was first to report the story.

On Tuesday, Zimmerman, a gas pipeline worker who found fame as a country singer on TikTok with songs like “Never Comin’ Home,” addressed the incident for the first time.

“I want to apologize to the Pueblo of Sandia and to everyone at Sandia Resort & Casino. I never meant for any of this to come across as disrespectful. I am deeply sorry for my actions that transpired. I respect your community and the hospitality and appreciate the opportunity that was given to me to perform on Native Land,” Zimmerman wrote in a statement shared with Rolling Stone. “I take full accountability for everything that happened and I am sorry to anyone who feels hurt or disrespected.”

Zimmerman, who released his debut LP, Religiously. The Album., in 2023, went on to apologize to his fans. “I am so sorry, you deserved better from me. I understand that being a musician comes with big responsibilities, both on and off stage, and I know that I fell short that day. I am reflecting on the disappointment and concern that I caused.

“I am taking this legal matter seriously,” he continued. “I am committed to doing the work necessary to learn and grow. Thank you to my fans for holding me accountable and for understanding that I am human. I do not take your support for granted.”

According to the court documents, on May 27, Zimmerman and members of his team played golf and adjourned to a hotel room at the resort before soundcheck at the Sandia Amphitheater. At the venue, Zimmerman was reportedly showing signs of intoxication and, while onstage, threw musical equipment and, on at least one occasion, fell down.

The documents also note that Zimmerman became disorderly when he was asked to leave the resort. On May 28, the damage, including a hole in the wall and a broken telephone, was observed in Zimmerman’s room.

Rumors about Zimmerman’s actions had circulated almost immediately online in May, with one TikTok account recounting how the show was canceled barely an hour before it was due to begin.

Last year, Zimmerman addressed fans on social media after videos surfaced of the singer performing at Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa festival intoxicated. “I’m disappointed in myself,” Zimmerman posted to his social media. “I was always raised up to hit my problems head on and never to lie, even when you are embarrassed.”

Zimmerman is facing charges of a fourth-degree felony for criminal damage to property over $1,000 and a misdemeanor for falsely obtaining services. His next scheduled live performance is Thursday, June 25, in Nebraska.
