Seven years since Avengers Endgame and the Russo Brothers return as directors of Avengers Doomsday.

Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man may have perished to save the universe, but the star is back in the MCU as the villainous Doctor Doom for a multiverse two-part epic that will conclude in 2027’s Avengers Secret Wars.

As with Avengers Infinity War and Endgame, we’d expect some big character deaths.

And the Marvel leakers have already scooped a couple, so don’t keep reading if you want to avoid potential spoilers.

Main Middle Man reposted on X the news story: “Sebastian Stan is in talks to star in The Batman: Part II.” The reliable scooper commented: “A tiny spoiler about who might die in Avengers Doomsday.” By the sounds of it, they’re implying that Bucky will perish in the new Marvel blockbuster, and so the actor will be freed up to star in a DC movie over at Warner Bros. On top of that, the leaker also claimed another major Marvel superhero will kick the bucket, and it’s certainly not his first time.

Main Middle Man also posted: “Well, get ready to see the same character die for the fourth time.” Which Marvel superhero has died three times already on screen? Only one and that’s Sir Patrick Stewart’s Professor X. His Charles Xavier died in X-Men: The Last Stand, Logan and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. And now yet another variant from across the multiverse is featuring in Avengers Doomsday, as teased in the latest trailer. According to the leaker, the new Professor X won’t make it to Avengers Secret Wars. And if he doesn’t, perhaps James McAvoy’s young Charles will?

Avengers Doomsday hits cinemas on December 18, 2026.
