Asda, Waitrose, Morrisons and more issue urgent recalls

Over the past week or so, several supermarkets and online retailers have issued urgent product recalls. These are necessary when food, drinks or any other item is deemed unsafe to use or eat, and people are urged to bring them back to the point of sale for a full refund.

A popular type of milk, bread rolls and sweets have all been recalled recently, as well as children’s toys and pieces of furniture too. If you think you’ve bought any of the items, check the details below carefully. You should be able to get your money back if you return it to the store where you purchased it, and you may not need a receipt.

Grahams Family Dairy Milk

Grahams Family Dairy is recalling Grahams Family Dairy Semi-Skimmed Milk because veterinary medicines, including penicillin, have been found the product. Several major supermarkets like Asda and Morrisons stock this product.

All one pint, one litre and two litre bottles with a best before date of July 31, 2026, are affected by this recall.

Anyone with an allergy to antibiotics including penicillin could become ill if they drink this milk, but in general it’s unsafe to drink for everyone.

If you have bought the product, don’t consume it. Instead, return it to where you bought it from for a full refund.

In a statement, Grahams Family Dairy said: “This is a precautionary measure we have taken as there is a small risk a trace level of antibiotics may be present in the milk which could cause a reaction to consumers with an allergy to antibiotics.

“We apologise for this issue and would like to reassure our customers no other Grahams Family Dairies products or Use By Dates are affected.

Bon Bons Wholesale Ltd

Bon Bons Wholesale Ltd is recalling various chocolate products because they contain milk and soya which are not mentioned on the label.

The affected products are as follows:

Best before: January 16 2028

Best before: March 1 2027

Best before: January 21 2027

Best before: January 25 2027

Best before: November 22 2027

Best before: December 23 2027

Best before: December 26 2027

Best before: September 9 2027

Best before: March 21 2027

Best before: August 15 2027

These products contain milk and soya making them a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, or an allergy to soya.

This notice is mainly for wholesalers, so if you’ve bought any of this stock with these dates, don’t sell any more. Return to where they were purchased for a full refund.

Waitrose Chocolate Chip Brioche Rolls

The supermarket has recalled its eight-pack choc chip brioche rolls because they may contain pieces of hard plastic and metal, making them unsafe to eat.

Best before: July 26 2026

Waitrose has urged customers who have bought this product not to eat it, to package it up, and take it to their local Waitrose & Partners branch for a full refund.

Blair Tub Rust Velvet Armchair

This piece of furniture sold by Soho Home has also been recalled due to fire risk. It was manufactured without the required fire-resistant inter-liner.

If exposed to a naked flame, it may present an increased fire risk. The product doesn’t meet the requirements of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988.

Affected consumers have been contacted directly with further instructions on claiming a refund or replacement.

Vilac Farm Musical Blocks

These coloured musical blocks with farm-theme artwork have been recalled because they could pose a risk to children.

It includes small parts that can detach or break off during use, creating small parts that fit entirely within a small parts cylinder. These small parts pose a choking risk to young children.

The product has been recalled from end users by the retailer, Bebeco, and affected customers have been contacted directly. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) recommend that people stop using the product immediately and keep it out of children’s reach.

Gingerbread Doorstops

A selection of novelty doorstops shaped like gingerbread from the Snow White brand have been urgently recalled as they may contain traces of asbestos. This is a banned substance because it poses a risk to health even at low levels of exposure.

Stop using the product immediately, and keep them out of reach of children. Safely double-bag and seal the item, or any leaked sand and cleaning materials while wearing protective gear, then store it securely.

Return the product to the store for a full refund or contact your local authority for instructions on safe asbestos disposal.

Dino Sand Stretchy Racers

Wizz Toys has recalled its stretchy dinosaur-shaped stretchy toys on wheels because they may also contain traces of asbestos.

The advice from OPSS is the same safe disposal routine as above.
