Anitta Blasts Former Employees for Leaking Music Video
“Anything that’s out on the internet was leaked without my authorization,” singer says
Anitta has accused former employees of leaking a music video she made in 2014 for “Tá Na Mira,” blasting them for doing so without her authorization. “Dear ones, I didn’t release any clip today,” she wrote on Friday via social media, originally in Portuguese. “Anything that’s out on the internet was leaked without my authorization by people who haven’t been part of my team for a long time, and now you can understand a little piece of the why. Kisses.”
Sometime on Thursday, a three-and-a-half–minute clip for the song, which features on her 2013 self-titled debut, surfaced online. It begins by showing her seated in a chair in a desolate room, her hands handcuffed behind her, while a man sits in front of her as if to interrogate her. Then she breaks free, so she can dance and flirt with him. The plot emerges that she has busted him cheating on her, and by the end of the clip, the tables have turned.
Fans reacted to the clip with comments suggesting the video wasn’t up to her typical standard. Another likened it to the Jessica Alba movie Honey, which features Alba dressed similarly in some scenes. One fan called it a bomb.
The song was released as a promotional single from the album, but it did not chart at the time. Although not an official single, “Tá Na Mira” also led off an EP of the same name in 2013. Only a lyric video came out officially, and the background image for that was Anitta’s silhouette. That decision proved wise since YouTube users have since streamed it 19 million times.
The song’s title translates to “You’re in my sights,” explaining the gunshot sound effects, and the rest of the lyrics find Anitta telling a man that she wants him but that he has to show her he feels the same. “I’m more than just a conquest,” she sings in Portuguese, “I’m not some easy lay/You really hit the jackpot/Careful now, don’t scare me off.” Basically, prove your love or go away. But as for the music video, there’s only one option: go away.
