‘Amazing’ Netflix movie is hailed as a ‘fan favourite’ and ‘best film’ | Films | Entertainment

For lovers of animation and rom-coms, Netflix has you covered. The streaming platform is home to an “amazing” film that has become a favourite of viewers.

Entergalactic was released in 2022 and is an adult animated film special created by American musician and actor Kid Cudi. The movie serves as a visual companion piece to Cudi’s album of the same name. The film premiered exclusively on Netflix, simultaneously with the album’s release.

Directed by Fletcher Moules, it is based on the record, which Cudi recorded before storyboarding the movie. Alongside Cudi, it stars the voices of Jessica Williams, Timothée Chalamet, Ty Dolla Sign, Laura Harrier, Vanessa Hudgens, Christopher Abbott, 070 Shake, Teyana Taylor, Jaden Smith, Keith David, Arturo Castro, and Macaulay Culkin. The romantic comedy uses an art style inspired by that of I Lost My Body (2019) and When Harry Met Sally… (1989).

The film’s synopsis reads: “Ambitious artist Jabari attempts to balance success and love when he moves into his dream Manhattan apartment and falls for his next-door neighbour.”

Entergalactic received critical acclaim for its animation, visual style, music, and story. It is dedicated to Cudi’s deceased friend, American fashion designer Virgil Abloh, who served as a costume designer on the project before his death. Alongside this, the release date coincides with Abloh’s birth date.

The film has an impressive 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with one describing it as a “masterpiece”.

They added: “This movie was a masterpiece. The emotions in this movie felt real. It felt relatable, and the music in the movie only made what felt real feel realer if that makes sense. I wish to see more movies like this, but in the meantime, I will watch this movie a hundred times more.”

Another viewer said: “The most beautiful animation I have seen in a movie I wasn’t expecting much going into this movie, and the only reason I really watched it was because of Kid Cudi, but I was pleasantly surprised. The animation is pure perfection, and don’t get me started on the transitions. It got some laughs out of me, and I never checked how much time was left throughout the movie. It’s a solid story that I would probably recommend to my friend. One of my favourite aspects was Mr Rager. Now, when I say this, I mean like when his shadow is replaced by him or when he gives him advice on DMing his ex. Overall all I really enjoyed Entergalactic, five stars.”

“One of my FAVOURITE MOVIES! I love this movie, the soundtrack to this movie is also so great,” added a third.
