Band was also booked for Sonic Temple, Welcome to Rockville and Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert, but Sean Kinney’s “health is our top priority at this moment”

Alice in Chains have canceled the remainder of their tour and upcoming festival appearances after drummer Sean Kinney suffered “a medical emergency” earlier this week.

Earlier this week, the grunge band canceled their tour-opening concert in Uncasville, Connecticut hours before showtime after Kinney “experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency” shortly after soundcheck.

While Alice in Chains didn’t elaborate on Kinney’s condition, on Friday, the band revealed that their North American tour — which included stops at Columbus’ Sonic Temple and Daytona Beach’s Welcome to Rockville festivals in the coming weeks — was off.

“After careful consideration and following the advice of medical professionals, we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming festival performance and the Alice in Chains headline shows,” the band wrote on social media.

“While we were all eager to return to the stage, Sean’s health is our top priority at this moment. Although the issue requires immediate attention, his long-term prognosis is positive.” Kinney is Alice in Chains’ founding drummer, and with guitarist Jerry Cantrell, the only surviving members from when the group formed in 1987.

Alice in Chains, who were embarking on their first tour since 2023, played one gig — Las Vegas’ Sick New World fest on April 27 — before the tour was canceled. The band was also booked to take part in Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert, Birmingham, England’s Back to the Beginning festival, on July 5.

“We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support during this time,” the band added.
