Aldi launches gardening gadget that’s £80 cheaper than Argos’ version
Aldi has started selling a cordless lawn mower for just under £80. It comes as gardeners across the country take advantage of the balmy spring weather and get their outside spaces back to their best for barbecues and get-togethers.
Nothing says neglected garden like a wild, overgrown lawn, but there are plenty of reasonably priced lawn mowers on the market to help keep your plot looking neat and fresh. The Ferrex Cordless Lawn Mower arrived in the German supermarket chain’s stores from Thursday, April 23, as it continues to expand its home and garden offering. Aldi‘s product description reads: “Effortlessly maintain a neat lawn with ease using this Cordless Mower, designed to keep your garden looking fresh without the hassle of cords!”
The product is designed for use on lawns up to 200 m² (approx.), with cutting height adjustment of approximately 25-75mm (approx.), and a maximum cutting diameter of around 330mm.
It features an adjustable handle bar and carry handle, a safety switch and engine brake, and a grass collector with a capacity of approximately 35 litres.
It has battery power of around 20V too, giving you plenty of juice for a smaller garden, without needing to be constantly connected to the mains.
The Sun found an equivalent, the Einhell 33cm Cordless Rotary Lawnmower, available from Argos, which has a similar cutting width (around 33cm). However, the Einhell model is slightly less powerful with a 18V battery, and also has a lower grass collector capacity of 30L.
The Argos offering is currently retailing for £160, £80 more than the Ferrex cordless lawn mower.
Aldi notes that online prices may differ from in-store prices, and given that the gadget is part of their popular middle aisle offering, it may no longer be in stock at your local branch.
Experts say the key to getting a lush lawn in July and August begins in early spring, with April seen as crucial for getting grass ready to flourish later in the year.
