KPop Demon Hunters, the film that has children and adults alike singing along, has taken the world by storm since its release in late August. The animated feature has been viewed over 291 million times on Netflix, making it the platform’s most-watched film ever.

Its compelling storyline, engaging characters, and catchy tunes have won the hearts of viewers worldwide.

The plot follows Korean pop sensations Rumi, Mira, and Zoey who, when they’re not filling stadiums with adoring fans, moonlight as demon hunters to protect their followers from supernatural threats. Their biggest challenge yet comes in the form of a rival boy band – who are actually demons in disguise.

While primarily targeted at children, the film has also captivated a significant adult audience, with some even hailing it as the “film of the year”. Select cinemas offered sing-along screenings in August, adding another layer of enjoyment for fans.

One viewer shared their unexpected delight on Reddit, admitting: “After months, I have finally watched KPop Demon Hunters, because this sub Reddit made me believe the movie was for children. 10/10, best animated movie of the year.”

Another confessed: “I’m not very into K-Pop. I ended up watching it because my younger co-workers wouldn’t stop talking about it. I’m not sorry I did! Watching a movie by yourself is always an option.”

While a third viewer shared: “It’s basically a Pixar movie but with K-Pop. It’s not the worst way to spend 90 minutes.

“It’s a great movie that just happens to be child friendly,” chimed in another.

After watching the film, someone else remarked: “I watched it with my co-worker who loves K-Pop and already saw it and loved it. She sold it to me that it had animation similar to Into The Spider-Verse, which is a good selling.

“I absolutely adored the movie, it’s a big ass fun movie with a lot of heart, the animation is of course on another level. I never expected to love it so much.”

Another, praising the music, said: “I did enjoy it a lot more than I thought I would and I watched it at my brother’s place with a dope surround system the music was pretty good even though it wasn’t really my thing.”

While another fan shared: “It’s going to be a guilty pleasure watch for me. The music goes hard and its easy to have on while building Lego.”

And one of the film’s hundreds of five-star Google reviews read: “I went into KPop Demon Hunters expecting a fun little animated flick and walked out feeling like I’d just watched one of the best things Netflix (and Sony Pictures Animation) has ever put out.”
