Fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses have been left delighted after author Sarah J. Maas announced the release date for the next two books in the series. Appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the author shared that there are three upcoming books in the series, and that two will be published soon — one on October 27 and the next on January 12, 2027.

During the podcast, Sarah revealed that she’s had to split the next book into three instalments due to its length, explaining: “As I started writing this in like this energy vortex, like it came outta me in a way that surprised me. And by the time I reached, you know, I like to do parts like part one, part two, part three, by the time I got to the end of part one, it was like 400 pages long.

“So I decided I wasn’t gonna approach this project from a, you know, traditional format of a book. And what if this story, like, what if this book was really long? Like, what if it took me more than a thousand pages to tell the story that needed to be told, the arc that I wanted to create from start to finish?

“What if that took a long time? Like, what if that took me on the constraints of a single volume, and what does that look like? How do I tell that story?”

Taking to Instagram in the aftermath of her podcast appearance, she wrote: “I wish I had the words to express how grateful I am – truly, deeply, overwhelmingly grateful – to be able to share this news with you. In just a few short months, ACOTAR 6 & 7 will be yours!!!

“I know how long you’ve waited. I know how much these characters mean to you. And I also know these stories deserve more than speed and deadlines. They deserve my best self. They deserve the right moment.

“When the moment came, what I thought would be one book… very quickly became something else. The story just kept expanding, and I couldn’t wait to share a single part of it any longer!!”

And although she’s remained coy about any details, including which characters the books will follow, fans have nevertheless been sharing their excitement.

On the Instagram post, one wrote: “Congrats, Sarah! I’m so happy for how truly beloved your books have become and seeing how far you have come since that first book tour. I can’t wait to return to your world and see what you’ve been cooking up!”

Another commented: “WHAT THE HECK! HELL YAH OMG I need to book off two weeks from work and drop the kids to my mums house to read these I can’t wait!”

While a third added: “Best news ever!!! Thank you for taking your time – your artistry can’t be rushed. You are magic!!!! I can’t wait to have our comfort characters back so soon.”
