Whether you enjoy travelling or not, plane journeys can be stressful. From making sure you get through security before boarding time, to in-flight worries such as turbulence, it can be a lot to deal with.

And for parents, who are travelling with children, it’s an even more intense experience. There are so many more things to worry about, from making sure your little ones are calm and happy, to making sure you have everything you need for the flight.

One man who was travelling on a plane recently was baffled when a mum, who was sitting in front of him, handed him a note. And when he read the message, he was moved to tears.

Travel online content creator Elliott Norris took to TikTok to share what had happened. He said: “I want to cry. A mom with her newborn in front of me on the plane gave me this.”

Elliott, who is based in Los Angeles in the US, then showed a clear plastic bag, filled with sweets and chocolates such as Starburst and Twix, and some ear plugs, with a note attached to the inside of it. It read: “It’s my first light! I made a deal to be on my best behaviour – but I can’t make any guarantees! I might cry if I get scared or if my ears start to hurt.

“Here are some treats to make your flight enjoyable. Thank you for being patient with us. Have a great flight!”

In the caption, Elliott added: “She’s already so busy and took the time to make these bags for everyone.”

Travelling with a newborn baby can be stressful for any parent. They might cry because of the pressure and discomfort, and while most people are understanding, some parents might feel stressed in case it bothers anyone nearby.

In the comment section, many people had sympathy with the mum, and were blown away by her thoughtful gesture. One person wrote: “The anxiety she must have felt to even think of this. People need to be kinder, we were ALL babies once.”

Another said: “Please be nice to her. It’s such hell flying with babies,” while a third commented: “She is an amazing human being who cares for other.”

“Dear new parents: no you don’t have to do this. Your babies have the right to exist and be. We all know babies cry. We know you try your best,” commented someone else.

However, someone else who had tried this approach before, said it didn’t work for them. They commented: “I did this for my kids first flight and the passengers were so mean and wouldn’t take the bags. My kids slept the entire time too so i wasted my time.”

Travelling with a baby takes careful planning. To minimise pain in your baby’s ears, you could try feeding your baby or offering them a dummy to suck during take off and landing. If unsure about anything, speak to your GP.
