Last weekend, Olivia Rodrigo headlined her inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in Irvine, California. After bringing out Sarah McLachlan and Alanis Morissette to perform, she invited Stevie Nicks to the stage. After a magical duet on “Landslide,” Nicks addressed the crowd of 45,000 fans. “She reminds me of me, when I was her age, 100 years ago,” she said of Rodrigo. “And I’m somewhat awestruck that she could do all this.”

Hours later, Sandra Bullock reposted Rolling Stone’s video of “Landslide” to her Instagram story, with the caption “Angel voices that are part of an upcoming film.” It was a tease for Practical Magic 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 1998 romance fantasy film starring Bullock and Nicole Kidman as sister witches. Both actresses return for the new movie, alongside their on-screen aunts (Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest), some new faces (Joey King, Maisie Williams, and Lee Pace), and yes, that fabulous kitchen.

Rolling Stone can confirm that Nicks and Rodrigo are indeed on the soundtrack. But they contributed separately, with Rodrigo’s “The Cure” playing in one scene, and “Landslide” playing in another. For Nicks, it’s a full-circle moment, as “Crystal” played in the original Practical Magic. And as she told Rolling Stone in 2024, she was excited to return for more spells. “I definitely think they should let me be a part of music,” she said. “As soon as I get home, I’m going to make that phone call and say, ‘Listen, you have to let me do a song in this, and at least jump off the roof with you guys.’” Mission accomplished.

Rodrigo performed “The Cure” during her dazzling Daisy Chain set, and again days later in Los Angeles, when she spoke with Rolling Stone alum Cameron Crowe at the Grammy Museum. She described the You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love track as one of her “favorite songs” she’s ever made. “The concept of ‘The Cure’ was a feeling that I had been trying to articulate for a really long time, but I didn’t really know how,” she said. “And that’s kind of the beautiful thing about songwriting, is it really just informs you how you feel. I feel like I don’t actually know how I feel about something until I’ve written a song about it, and so it definitely helps me be clear with my emotions.”

Practical Magic 2 hits theaters on Sept. 10.
