Ella Langley Ties Lil Nas X and Shaboozey’s Billboard Record
“Choosin’ Texas” spends its 19th week at Number One, tying the reign of country tracks “Old Town Road” and “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”
Ella Langley continues her reign atop the Billboard Hot 100. After passing Morgan Wallen, Harry Styles, and Whitney Houston, the country star’s ubiquitous “Choosin’ Texas” has achieved a 19-week feat atop the chart. It now ties the reigns of Shaboozey‘s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Lil Nas X‘s “Old Town Road,” as the longest-running non-holiday track on the chart.
“Choosin’ Texas” was first released in October 2025 and landed Langley her first Number One song in February. The track, while already fairly widespread, blew up over the summer and has sat at Number One since July 4, for nine consecutive weeks. It is currently the longest reign atop the Billboard Hot 100 by a female country artist.
Country music continues to dominate the Billboard Hot 100 this year. At the beginning of August, the genre claimed all top five spots on the Billboard 100: “Choosin’ Texas,” followed by Wallen’s “Been By Now,” Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You,” the Wallen-Langley collab “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” and Stella Lefty’s “Boston.”
The current record for most weeks spent atop the Hot 100 is held by Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” That song has spent 22 weeks at Number One, and gets a steady boost every holiday season.
Langley released her sophomore album Dandelion in April via Sawgod/Columbia. Langley’s Dandelion tour continues this week, stopping at the Neville Arena in Auburn, Alabama on Aug. 28.
“Everyone can relate to wanting something that doesn’t want you back, whether it be a relationship or a job,” Langley told Rolling Stone. “I’m giving my heart to people a lot. And that’s scary to constantly do, because no one wants their heart broken.”
