Twelve South’s stylish charging tray now delivers more wireless power with a smaller footprint
Following the original’s debut at CES earlier this year, Twelve South is introducing a new version of its leather-wrapped Valet charging tray designed for use in places where space is at a premium. While the original Valet was 7.5-inches deep and large enough to serve as a catchall for a couple of items like your wallet and keys, the new Valet nearly halves that to 4.5-inches deep, so it’s better suited for single items, like a pair of glasses.
Despite being smaller, the new Valet brings some welcome upgrades. The original’s wireless charger maxed out at 15W, but the smaller version bumps that to 25W. However, while the original could charge a second device through a USB-C port on the side at 15W, the smaller Valet limits power delivery there to just 10W while its Qi2 charger is in use.
At $129.99 the new 4.5-inch Twelve South Valet is cheaper than the larger $179.99 option, but it’s still considerably more expensive than other Qi2 wireless chargers as a result of its use of premium materials. It features a weighted zinc alloy base with the tray itself wrapped in black, brown, or taupe Nappa leather. The upper section of the Valet is also surrounded by a removable metal frame that can be swapped with alternate colors sold by Twelve South.
