Directed by Clint Eastwood, Mystic River stars Sean Penn, Tim Robbins and Kevin Bacon as three childhood friends whose lives are torn apart by tragedy.

The story follows the murder of Sean Penn’s character’s teenage daughter, forcing the three men to reunite years later as Kevin Bacon’s detective investigates the shocking crime.

As suspicion grows, the lifelong friends begin turning on one another after one becomes convinced that someone close to him is responsible for his daughter’s death.

According to Eccy Reviews, it’s the performances that really make the film stand out. He said: “The performances are brilliant. This film will leave you on the edge of your seat.

“You’ll constantly be questioning what is going on in this mystery as it is absolutely full of twists and turns. It is such a fantastic film, I just couldn’t not recommend it.”

Released in 2003, Mystic River received widespread critical acclaim, with Sean Penn winning the Academy Award for Best Actor and Tim Robbins taking home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
