Scout Willis belts a powerhouse kiss-off to a faithless lover on her grandiose, new gospel-rock song, “Honey, I.” “Honey, I … I don’t have to, I don’t have to love you to love me,” she sings in the chorus. Her voice sounds playful, vulnerable, and brash at times, reflecting the lyrics as she affirms her self-worth as her voice climbs with the melody. The song will appear on an upcoming album, which will come out via 10K Projects, part of Atlantic Music Group. The song follows the release of her songs “It Ain’t Nothing” and “So Many Ways.”

Willis filmed the “Honey, I” video for the song at Los Angeles’ historic, 102-year-old Highland Theatre, which her friend Kristen Stewart recently bought to preserve it. The movie house’s marquee bears her name and she dances among the seats, alone, which is the point of the song.

“In its essence this song is about what we do with lost love,” Willis tells Rolling Stone. “It’s an anthem to that moment that when you remember who the fuck you really are after heartbreak and turn it into your greatest triumph yet. To me, this is one of the most meaningful tracks on this record and it feels like the perfect first song to release with Atlantic. I am to my core delighted to have them as partners with whom I can grow and really stretch my wings as an artist.”

The artist, who recently made her debut appearance at Nashville’s Bluebird Café, will embark on a tour with Maren Morris, beginning in Napa, California on Saturday. At the Bluebird, she sang “Honey, I” with Madi Diaz, who co-wrote the song with Willis and songwriters Derrick Adam Southerland and JT Daly. Willis’ tour with Morris runs through July 25, concluding in Bonner, Montana.
