A new Madonna photo book is on the way. Madonna: Into the Groove is set for release this October, and will feature images by famed rock & roll photographer Ken Regan, plus accompanying text by former Rolling Stone staff writer Tomás Mier.

Madonna: Into the Groove features images of the Queen of Pop from 1985. That year found her on the Virgin Tour, performing at Live Aid, and starring in the screwball comedy Desperately Seeking Susan. Across approximately 200-pages, the new photo book features portraits of the rising star as she became a global icon.

Per a press release, the book will feature an array of photographs taken in both intimate and public settings. They include photos of Madonna in the studio and her bedroom, working out at the gym, and performing onstage.

Regan was one of the most prolific and sought after photographers of the 20th century. He began his career in the Seventies, and photographed figures and bands like Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, and Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue. He also shot the Kennedy family, the Vietnam War, and the Gulf War. In 2011, All Access: the Rock & Roll Photography of Ken Regan was released. He died of cancer the following year.

Former Rolling Stone staff writer Tomás Mier, who wrote the book’s text, described the opportunity as “an absolute honor.” “I unfortunately never had the pleasure of meeting Ken, but through interviewing those who worked with him, I truly understand what made him such a visionary photographer: he approached his subjects with genuine empathy and respect,” Mier said. “These images are a perfect encapsulation of his talent, capturing the Queen of Pop at a pivotal, electric moment in her own career and in music history.”

Pre-orders for Madonna: Into the Groove are available now via Insight Editions/Simon and Schuster.
