There is always plenty of debate when it comes to choosing the best detective film. But there is one mystery movie that is still being talked about by viewers today, despite the fact that it was released more than 50 years ago.

The movie has been called the best detective film ever made and, to this day, attracts glowing reviews. It has a near-perfect critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, and many fans believe it remains one of the greatest films ever put on screen. The film follows a private investigator who becomes caught up in a case that is far more complicated than it first appears.

Along the way, he uncovers secrets, scandals and powerful figures who would rather keep the truth hidden.

The movie also features one of Hollywood’s most famous actors in the lead role.

That film is Chinatown. The neo-noir mystery was released in 1974 and stars Jack Nicholson as private investigator J.J. “Jake” Gittes, alongside Faye Dunaway and John Huston.

The film has a 98% critics score and a 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Set in 1930s Los Angeles, it deals with a mysterious investigation that slowly uncovers a much bigger story.

Chinatown received widespread acclaim when it was released and went on to earn 11 Academy Award nominations.

It won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and is widely regarded as one of the greatest mystery films ever made.
