A new Netflix film is leaving viewers in floods of tears and has rocketed up the streaming charts within mere hours of its release. Landing on the platform this Friday (19th June), the new romantic comedy boasting an all-star cast and an emotional twist is currently sitting at number two on the streamer’s film chart.

Its sole rival is the harrowing true crime documentary Maternal Instincts, making this fresh original release an absolute must-see for anyone seeking lighter entertainment for Saturday or Sunday evening. Be warned, however, as Voicemails for Isabelle opens with an emotional blow as protagonist Jill (portrayed by Zoey Deutch) loses her beloved sister Isabelle (Ciara Bravo) within the opening minutes.

Grappling with the devastating loss of her best friend, she starts leaving voice messages on Isabelle’s old number, unaware it has been reassigned to Austin-based estate agent Wes (Nick Robinson).

Wes finds himself gradually falling for the captivating voice on the other end and decides to travel to San Francisco to meet Jill, but will his secret destroy their blossoming connection?

Also starring comedy legend Nick Offerman as Jill’s overbearing patisserie boss Chef Bastien, Voicemails for Isabelle is brimming with heart and humour. Yet it is the film’s emotional centre and its abundance of breathtaking twists and turns that have been reducing viewers to tears, with audiences flocking to watch it the moment it landed on Netflix.

One X user confessed: “As an older sister, “Voicemails for Isabelle” DESTROYED ME!”

Another wrote: “Well Voicemails for Isabelle made me an emotional wreck. It was super cute though.”

“Voicemails for Isabelle- the new Netflix film that’s genuinely took 13 minutes to bring me to tears and was an absolute joy to watch start to finish,” someone else added.

A glowing 10/10 IMDb review enthused: “This movie was absolutely amazing. I am not joking when I say I stayed up [until] 2:00 am just to watch this movie [the] minute it came out. And the minute it ended I came straight here to leave a review. It is wonderful!

“It’s deep but also such a feel good movie! I would highly recommend. I loved it. This may be my new favourite rom com!”

While another devoted fan gushed: “I wasn’t expecting to feel so much while watching this but there I was, right there with her. I never cry watching movies but this was so raw and beautiful that I just went with it.

“Best movie I’ve watched in a very long time and the incredible sound track made it even better. Absolutely loved it and would watch it again in a heartbeat.”

Got your tissues at the ready? Be sure to add Voicemails for Isabelle straight to the top of your streaming watchlist this weekend.

Voicemails for Isabelle is available to stream on Netflix.
