Amazon buyer ditches ‘cheaper razors’ for ‘comfortable shave’

With the cost of everyday essentials continuing to rise, many shoppers are tempted by budget grooming products. However, one Amazon buyer says they have ditched ‘cheaper razors’ after discovering a premium alternative that delivers a more comfortable shave and is ‘well worth the money’.

The Gillette Fusion5 Razor is now available for £22.99, down from £27.99, on Amazon, and it has built a loyal following among shoppers looking for a close, smooth shave without irritation, with many praising its balance of performance and value over time. Designed with five anti-friction blades, the razor aims to provide a closer and longer-lasting shave compared to previous versions.

The blades are engineered to glide smoothly across the skin, helping to reduce drag and improve comfort during each shave. Gillette says each Fusion5 blade refill can provide up to 20 shaves, allowing users to get more use from each cartridge before needing a replacement.

The larger lubrication strip is designed to improve glide while shaving, helping the razor move more smoothly across the face. Comfort has also been considered in the handle design, with an ergonomic grip intended to provide greater control and manoeuvrability. Meanwhile, a precision trimmer on the back of the cartridge makes it easier to tidy sideburns, shape facial hair and reach those more awkward areas around the nose and jawline.

An alternative is the Philips Series 5000 Wet & Dry Men’s Electric Shaver for £74.99, down from £149.99, on Boots. This one has self-sharpening blades, 360° contour heads and a one-hour charging time.

Then on Currys, there is the Braun Series 3 Wet & Dry Shaver for £39.99, down from £40. This one is a versatile device that can be used to shave, edge or trim beards, and it has three flexible blades that adapt to face contours.

The Gillette Fusion5 Razor has been rated highly on Amazon, however. One person said: “I’ve tried cheaper razors and none of them gave me as comfortable, as safe or as close a shave as this product. Well worth the money.”

Another wrote: “Brilliant, best I’ve ever had, I got a lot of shaves on one blade.”

A third person said: “For years I’ve been buying disposable razors which provide a decent shave but never last very long. Noticed a deal on Amazon so gave these a go. I’ve been totally blown away with Gillette Fusion. Incredible shave and the blades last such a long time. My face feels smooth throughout the day, and I will never use an alternative. I also believe that I will save money too. Brilliant.”

Some people removed a star and said: “A good razor but only the authentic Gillette blades work decently. Costly for what it is and I find the two-blade Gillette razor is better.” Another said: “Razor is no better or worse than comparably priced razors.”
