Tinashe Returns With Swaggering Single ‘Too Easy’
The singer previewed the song during her DJ set at Coachella earlier this year
Tinashe shared a new single, “Too Easy.” The thumping track was co-produced by Kimj and Zack Sekoff, and sees Tinashe bragging about her fame. The singer first teased the song during her DJ set at at Coachella in April.
“I know that I’m a superstar,” she croons. “And they hate to see I’ve come so far/ But I can’t help that I make it look so easy.”
“Too Easy” follows Tinashe’s most recent album Quantum Baby, which dropped in August 2024. Quantum Baby marked part of a trilogy of albums that includes BB/Ang3l. Tinashe told Rolling Stone that she came up with the idea to connect her releases before putting them out.
“I think people’s attention span is not the best,” she said. “Sometimes you work on an album for two years and then people move on within two months, and that feels shitty. [The third part is] definitely still in the works. One of the benefits of having this three-part trilogy is being able to change it and adapt it in real time. A lot of times, you create an album and then you don’t get to release the songs for a year or two years. I don’t want to re-create ‘Nasty’ several times, or anything like that. I’m just more inspired to go outside of my comfort zone.”
It’s unclear if “Too Easy” is part of that forthcoming third album. A press release does note that the single “ushers in a new era” for the singer. A video for the track will arrive later today.
