Celine Dion Tribute ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Collaborator Peabo Bryson
“He will remain for me always as a real symbol of the joy that music has brought to my life,” Dion shared about the veteran singer, who died this week at the age of 75
Céline Dion will always see her “Beauty and the Beast” collaborator Peabo Bryson as “a real symbol of the joy that music has brought to my life,” she shared in a tribute to the veteran singer, who died this week at the age of 75.
“I’m heartbroken to hear that we lost Peabo Bryson today,” Dion wrote on an Instagram Story post. “His incredible voice and his kind spirit embodied the beauty of song and performance. He was so wonderful and generous to me all those years ago, when we recorded Beauty and the Beast. He made me so comfortable, as I was just learning to sing in English.”
Dion and Bryson recorded “Beauty and the Beast” in 1991. Two years later, the soundtrack classic won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals. It also earned nominations for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
“When ‘Beauty and the Beast’ was offered to Peabo Bryson and myself, for a movie that was about to come out, Beauty and the Beast, I was amazed that I was considered to sing with Peabo Bryson that I knew and that I really enjoyed and loved, and it became a very huge success,” Dion said in a video shared earlier this year. “Peabo Bryson and myself are very privileged that we are part of this.”
Bryson died following a stroke and “transitioned peacefully at 5:00 p.m. ET on the evening of Tuesday, June 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and those closest to him,” his family shared.
“He will remain for me always as a real symbol of the joy that music has brought to my life. His voice and his talent will be missed,” Dion said. “My heart is with your family, and may you rest in peace, Peabo.”
