Asked in a new interview with The Respawn, Gibson replied: “I couldn’t possibly know, honestly. You probably know better than me.”

Asked if he would jump at the opportunity, the 31-year-old coyly replied: “I’ve had the most incredible… this has been four, five years for me in the making from the first day turning up and shooting. I was a massive fan and had so much love for this character beforehand and that’s only been deepened by this process. So, yeah, I mean I I think I’m one of the biggest Bond fans there is.

Meanwhile, bookmaker Coral’s John Hill tells us: “Patrick Gibson has suddenly gone from dark horse to genuine Bond bombshell. After the release of 007 First Light, punters have piled in and his odds have been cut from 40/1 to 20/1.” Nevertheless, the frontrunners continue to be Harris Dickinson (8/1), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (5-1), Jacob Elordi (3-1) and Callum Turner (Evens).
