She battled to survive – and now she’s battling to find a forever home. Two year old Dolly was rescued from the streets in a devastating condition, her bones visibly protruding through her desperately frail body.

The medium-sized crossbreed, who weighs around 22kg, is currently based in Greece but is seeking a loving home in the UK where she can finally know what it feels like to be safe and cared for.

A rescue worker from Greek Stray ResQ said: “She was found in a heartbreaking state – weak, emaciated, and unable to use her back legs. But she didn’t give up.

“Today, Dolly has successfully completed her treatment for Leishmaniasis – and she’s standing, walking, and ready for a second chance at life.

“From a fragile, suffering dog to a strong, hopeful girl who just wants a home. Now she faces a new fear: returning to the streets. And after everything she’s been through, she deserves so much more.”

While rescue workers remain uncertain how Dolly would behave around other dogs or cats, they are confident she would most likely thrive alongside children, provided introductions remain calm and measured.

The rescue added that she would be “perfect for someone kind and committed, who understands that love and stability can change a dog’s entire world”.

Her remarkable story has already moved countless people across social media.

Responding to her rehoming appeal, one Facebook user wrote: “A transformation of love and prayer – now share to find a forever home!”

Another user wrote: “Poor mite. Can’t imagine what she’s been through. Please share for a loving home.”

Greek Stray ResQ is a volunteer-driven organisation committed to rescuing, supporting and rehoming stray cats and dogs throughout Greece.

The group thoughtfully pairs animals with appropriate families, conducting home visits and adoption agreements to ensure pets become cherished members of the household.

Alongside their rehoming work, volunteers also distribute food, blankets, temporary shelter and veterinary care to strays living rough on the streets or in overcrowded rescue centres.

The organisation maintains that fostering is every bit as vital as adoption, providing vulnerable animals with a secure environment while they await permanent homes.

Those wishing to adopt Dolly or support the rescue’s efforts can head to Greek Stray ResQ for further details.
