The Duchess of Edinburgh sparked a royal frenzy as she stepped out at the Royal Windsor Horse Show on Thursday, wrapping up warm against Britain’s unpredictable spring weather in a rare off-duty countryside look. Sophie, 61, joined Prince Edward for the opening day of the prestigious annual event, where the couple serve as President and Vice President.

Despite recently embracing a string of bold and colourful summer outfits, Sophie appeared to dip back into her winter wardrobe for the occasion, opting for earthy tones, practical layers, and heritage-inspired tailoring as temperatures cooled across the UK. The Duchess looked effortlessly polished in a smart brown fitted jacket from Spruce Meadows – the Canadian equestrian organisation of which she is Patron.

She paired the ensemble with deep olive cord trousers and suede cowboy boots from the royal-loved label Penelope Chilvers.

This year’s event also carries a personal family connection for the Edinburghs, with reports suggesting Lady Louise Windsor is expected to take part in Sunday’s carriage driving competition while also working backstage throughout the show.

Lady Louise inherited her late grandfather Prince Philip’s passion for carriage driving and has become a regular face at equestrian events in recent years.

The young royal has previously competed at Windsor herself, often attracting praise for quietly continuing the Duke of Edinburgh’s much-loved sporting legacy.

Earlier this week, the Duchess of Edinburgh stepped out in Copenhagen, Denmark, to attend the international conference titled Keeping our Children and Families Safe in the AI Era at Christiansborg Palace.

Sophie opted for a sophisticated bottle green tailored suit by Victoria Beckham, pairing the sharply cut look with tan suede heels and delicate gold jewellery.
