Rescue dog desperately wants loving home despite heartbreaking habit
She has endured the very worst of human cruelty and has never known what it feels like to be truly loved, yet rescuers remain hopeful that someone can finally transform one dog‘s life for the better.
Poor Litsaki, believed to be approximately one year old, was saved from a life of “hardship and uncertainty” in Greece.
Now, the crossbreed is searching for a permanent home in the UK, where she can finally feel secure enough to allow her affectionate personality to flourish.
A statement from the rescue team at Greek Stray ResQ, who have been caring for her since she was saved, said: “This gentle girl has faced her fears head-on, emerging with a heart still open to love. Despite her past, Litsaki has an unwavering spirit that shines through her soft, calm demeanour.”
Owing to the trauma the rescue dog has endured, Litsaki still flinches at loud noises and sudden movements. Yet despite this, she continues to demonstrate remarkable trust towards those who approach her with gentleness and compassion.
The rescue noted that when someone strokes her softly, she closes her eyes — a subtle yet profoundly moving indication that she is gradually learning to feel safe once more.
They added: “This beautiful act of vulnerability is a testament to her strength and longing for connection.”
“In the warmth of a loving home, Litsaki’s true potential can blossom. She deserves a safe space where kindness reigns and patience is abundant.
“With just a little understanding and a gentle touch, she will transform into a devoted companion, bringing joy and peace to her new family.”
The organisation explained that Litsaki is not merely seeking shelter, but rather a family who will support her emotional recovery following such a traumatic beginning to life.
The statement continued: “Litsaki is not just looking for a home; she is yearning for a forever family who will cherish her and help her heal from her past. Will you be the one to give her the love she so deeply deserves?”
Responding to her rehoming appeal, one Facebook user said: “Nice photos of you. Hope you find a good home soon.”
Another added: “Hope Litsaki gets a good home.”
A third user wrote: “She needs a quiet home away from the people who hurt her.”
Greek Stray ResQ states that volunteers form the backbone of everything they accomplish and they depend significantly on assistance from animal lovers throughout Greece, especially in northern areas where the demand is most acute.
The group is urging more individuals to become involved, whether through volunteering, donations or adoption, emphasising that even modest gestures of compassion can utterly transform the lives of stray animals like Litsaki.
