Uber adds hotel bookings and vacation rentals in push to become a one-stop shop for travel
Uber said Wednesday that users will soon be able to book hotels through its app, as it looks to expand its offerings and become a do-it-all travel service.

“Uber is now an app for everything,” CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said during the company’s product announcement.
The rideshare app will offer more than 700,000 hotel listings directly on the app in partnership with Expedia Group. While traveling, users will get reminders to schedule Uber rides and see options for Uber Eats “room service” that can deliver food and any forgotten items, such as a toothbrush or phone charger, directly to the hotel.
Uber said the goal of these upgrades is to “reduce the number of steps for travel” for its users.
The update “just makes the app much easier for [the user], and they don’t have to go to multiple apps,” Sachin Kansal, Uber’s chief product officer, said.
Later this year, Uber customers will also be able to book any vacation rental available on Vrbo via the Uber app, through a partnership between the two companies.
The moves are in part aimed at boosting Uber One memberships, the app’s subscription service, which is priced at $9.99 a month. Uber said it had 46 million Uber One members at the end of 2025, up 55% compared with the year prior. Executives have described the subscription service as a “key investment area,” due to the recurring revenue coming from “sticky” users less likely to ditch the app after signing up.
“These members are super sticky, whether it’s ordering food or ordering groceries or getting a charger at Best Buy or getting an [autonomous vehicle] ride,” Khosrowshahi told investors Feb. 4.
Among Uber One’s selling points: credits that users rack up when hailing rides, renting cars or ordering on Uber Eats. The new hotel offerings will also offer 10% back in Uber credits, alongside 20% discounts on the hotel bookings themselves.
“That cash back they can then use on rides as well as eats, so that’s going to be significant savings,” Kansal said.
As Uber expands its offerings, the company said Wednesday it was consolidating its search function into a single location on the app. Uber also said the company would soon bring voice features to the app.
The announcement is the latest in a series of acquisitions and partnerships aimed at expanding the app.
Earlier this year, Uber unveiled a new robotaxi intent on taking on Waymo, acquired parking platform SpotHero to add in-app parking reservations, and announced Uber Air, a partnership with Joby Aviation to bring all-electric air taxi service to users.
“Your interaction with Uber should be multimodal,” Kansal said. “If you want to tap, you want to type, you want to search, or you want to use your voice, you should use what is the easiest for you in that moment.”
