Kacey Musgraves brought her country twang to SZA‘s “Kill Bill” when she covered the break-up track on the BBC 1 Live Lounge.

The singer slowed down the track a bit by adding an acoustic guitar, a pedal steel guitar, and switching out the eerie flute notes for a piano. But it’s Musgraves’ delicate falsetto that transforms the cover into a bewitching rendition, which doubles down on the heartbreak of the murder fantasy ballad. With her all-black getup, cowboy hat, and sparkly septum piercing, Musgraves was the image of a lovelorn singer.

During her appearance on the BBC 1 Live Lounge, Musgraves also performed the raunchy lead single “Dry Spell” from her forthcoming seventh album Middle of Nowhere. The singer-songwriter just delivered the live debut of the track during a surprise set at Coachella 2026. It was her first performance at the music festival in seven years, and she made it extra special by debuting a handful of other Middle of Nowhere songs, including the newly released title track, “Uncertain, TX,” and “Back on the Wagon.”

Musgraves’ BBC 1 Live Lounge performance comes as the singer-songwriter travels through London in support of the LP. On Wednesday, she sang at London’s Circuit and performed yet another new track off Middle of Nowhere titled “Mexico Honey.” “Honestly this next song no one’s really heard this one yet so it’s very brand new,” she told the audience. “I guess, let’s just say, the dry spell was broken.”

The singer’s album promotion is in full swing. Earlier this week, she also teased a snippet of “Rhinestoned” on Instagram.
