Lana Del Rey Releases Title Song For James Bond Video Game: Listen
Lana Del Rey has released a new song for the upcoming James Bond video game 007 First Light. It will appear in the game’s title sequence.
“First Light” is a grand and orchestral affair, embellished with motifs from the James Bond theme song. It was composed and co-written with David Arnold, who previously scored five James Bond films, including Tomorrow Never Dies and Casino Royale. The video game’s score was created by the Flight.
“The Bond theme is a unique storytelling moment; it has to capture scale, drama, and intrigue all at once,” Arnold said in a statement. “Having been part of that musical lineage, I understand how important it is to honor its heritage while allowing it to evolve. Lana brought an elegance and atmosphere to the song that felt perfectly suited to continuing that tradition while introducing something fresh for a new era.”
007 First Light is the first video game in the James Bond franchise since 2012’s 007 Legends. Published and developed by IO Interactive, 007 First Light follows a Bond as a rookie MI6 agent in a new origin story while he tries to earn his 00 status. It will be released on May 27 on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S, and arrives on the Nintendo Switch 2 console later this year.
While the Bond community waits, the 007 First Light title sequence, featuring Del Rey’s song, will premiere on the game’s official channels on Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Steam, and X tomorrow (April 17) at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Lana Del Rey has slowly teased her Did You Know There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard follow-up, which is set to be country-inspired, throughout the last year. Following a series of title changes (The Right Person Will Stay and Lasso), the album is currently called Stove, but no release date has been set yet. In February, she released the spectral and intriguing single “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter,” describing it as her favorite song on the album.
