An adorable dog who walks like Forrest Gump has captured hearts as she seeks a forever home in the UK.

Kiki, a one year old mixed breed, might not move like your average dog – but it’s precisely that which has made people fall head over heels for her.

Her hind legs are a little weak, giving her a characteristic, slightly unsteady gait that some have likened to the legendary running style of Forrest Gump.

While it doesn’t prevent her from getting about, she would benefit from some physiotherapy and gentle exercise to help develop her strength over time.

Nevertheless, Kiki, who is available for adoption through Miracle’s Mission and currently residing in Bosnia, is otherwise a fit young dog – and those looking after her say her character more than compensates for anything she lacks physically.

Weighing merely 8kg, she’s described as possessing a “diamond temperament” and is happiest curled up on the sofa or nestled beside her humans.

Kiki is laid-back when she’s indoors. And provided she gets out for two or three walks a day, she’s perfectly house-trained and content to spend the remainder of her time relaxing.

She also adores children, happily snuggling with them and even sleeping alongside them. So if you’re a family looking for an extra member, she could be a great fit.

Additionally, Kiki has no problems living with cats. Regarding other dogs, she gets along well – provided they respect her space and don’t attempt to dominate her.

Kiki’s story has been far from straightforward. She was discovered locked inside a boiler room in the city of Derventa by animal control officers, having previously been living on the streets.

At the time of her rescue, she had been in heat and had inadvertently attracted a large pack of stray dogs around her, creating a perilous situation for both herself and members of the public.

Fortunately, she was saved and has since been living in foster care, where her gentle temperament has truly come to the fore.

Now neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, Kiki is ready to embark on the next chapter of her life – though she requires a very special kind of home.

Her rescuers say she would be perfectly suited to a family willing to look beyond her unusual gait and instead appreciate the loving, calm companion she truly is.

With a degree of patience, care and support to help build strength in her legs, they are confident she will flourish in the right environment.

Travel to the UK can be arranged, with prospective adopters asked to cover the approximate £500 cost – something rescuers insist will be well worth it for a dog of Kiki’s character.

Yet despite Miracle Mission’s rehoming appeal for little Kiki, only a handful of people have expressed their interest in her. If you are considering rehoming Kiki, or any other dogs in the rescue’s care, visit their website at miraclesmission.org.
