Netflix subscribers should not miss this atmospheric thriller now available to stream.
Viewers are being urged to watch a gripping horror film that slipped under the radar in 2024 and has now landed on Netflix in the UK.
The supernatural thriller sadly failed to set the box office alight upon release, yet a burgeoning cult following is firmly convinced it ranks amongst the finest films of its genre in the 2020s.
Helmed by director Alexandre Aja (Crawl), Halle Berry takes the lead in Never Let Go, playing a mother to twin boys living in an isolated woodland cabin with no trace of other human civilisation.
‘Momma’ is steadfastly convinced that a malevolent force has consumed the outside world, leaving her close-knit family as the sole survivors. To shield themselves from this mysterious entity, the trio bind themselves to ropes whenever they venture outdoors to scavenge for food.

Yet the twins begin to question their mother’s unsettling perception of reality as they start exploring the surrounding woodland independently, building towards a tense and haunting conclusion that has left audiences both captivated and devastated.
The film has just been added to Netflix today (Tuesday, 14th April) and is essential viewing for horror enthusiasts seeking their next dose of existential dread. Despite proving somewhat divisive with just 57 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, numerous fans have hailed it as an outstanding watch. One IMDb user’s glowing review of Never Let Go described it as “beautiful and devastating”, adding: “The reviews for this movie saying that it is familiar are absolutely insane. This movie was completely and absolutely devastating.
“There are aspects that make it terrifying because it makes the viewer question what they believe throughout. It was beautifully put together and well-made. You think that you have it figured it out, but you really haven’t, not to its core. It was captivating the whole time.”

Someone else confessed it was “more frightening than expected” and “I wasn’t quite prepared for it to go as deep as it did into the depths of despair”.
Another viewer pushed back against the negative reviews, writing: “Why the hate? Best movie I’ve seen in a while!
“Really interesting movie that had me flip-flopping back and forth between the two big possibilities of what was going on with it the whole time. It’s intense, scary, and sad. I’m super surprised that so many people are trashing it.
“Makes me wonder how they weren’t entertained! Great acting, cool premise, well shot. It is a day later and I am still thinking about it.”
They also suggested Never Let Go is “poised perfectly for a sequel”, though, following a lukewarm reception, the prospects of a follow-up may well be remote.
Nevertheless, there remains a possibility should this underrated horror gem attract a wave of new fans on streaming, so ensure you’re ahead of the game this week.
Never Let Go is available to stream on Netflix.
