Lindsay Buckingham is uninjured after a woman attacked the rock musician with an unknown substance on Wednesday morning, according to multiple reports, including from the Los Angeles Times and NBC4 Investigates. The incident occurred as Buckingham arrived for an appointment in Santa Monica. When the musician walked into the building, the woman threw an unknown liquid substance from a container at the former Fleetwood Mac guitarist.

“The Los Angeles Police Department’s Threat Management Unit is working with the Santa Monica Police Department to investigate this incident. To protect the integrity of the open and ongoing investigation, no further comment will be provided at this time,” the LAPD said in a statement to Rolling Stone.

Santa Monica Police identified the suspect as a suspected stalker to NBC4 Investigates, who first reported the incident. According to the outlet, the unnamed woman has been involved in past incidents of stalking that involve Buckingham. The Los Angeles Police Department also confirmed to the L.A. Times that the woman had a history of stalking Buckingham. An arrest has not yet been made.

According to authorities, the incident is still under investigation, but they believe the woman found out the location and timing of Buckingham’s appointment and followed him there.

Representatives for Buckingham did not immediately return Rolling Stone’s request for comment.

Last week, Buckingham detailed his plans for 2026, including new music, in a video on his Instagram account. “I am still very, very grounded in my creative life,” he said. “I’ve been working on a new solo album for the last couple of years, which is one song away from being finished.” Buckingham also added that in addition to his solo album, the upcoming Fleetwood Mac documentary may arrive this year.

Notably, the musician acknowledged his complicated relationship with Stevie Nicks. In 2025, the duo reissued their 1973 debut album Buckingham Nicks for the first time in decades, and have apparently reconciled. “I think on a more general level, just the energy in terms of what Buckingham Nicks did to sort of create a resurgence of connection between Stevie and myself, I think on a larger scale, that seems to be something that’s in the air,” he said. “And what that translates to specifically, I wouldn’t want to speculate yet. But I believe with all my heart, it will translate to something good, and something wonderful, and something needed and something extremely appropriate.”
