Primark customers have applauded a pair of £14 shoes for bearing a striking resemblance to a considerably more costly designer label. The high street retailer offers an array of footwear from sandals and trainers to heels.

Yet one particular pair has captured shoppers’ interest. Primark is stocking Loafer Clog Sandals in sand and chocolate shades. Primark describes the footwear as featuring a “faux suede finish” and a “loafer-inspired design”. One TikTok user has drawn comparisons between the shoes and Dune’s Golden Suede Backless Mule Loafers.

The designer label offers the loafers in brown, neutral and taupe. Nevertheless, they’re priced significantly higher at £109. They’re presently Dune’s top-selling item on its website.

The majority of stock is currently unavailable online, though the branded footwear is offered in sizes three to eight, reports the Mirror.

TikTok user Yaz Moore said: “You’ll want to run to Primark because I have just found the best shoes I have seen here in a while. They are like a dupe of those Dune ones, which are really expensive. They do them in a few different colours.”

Nevertheless, Yaz added: “I feel like these aren’t for everyone. Some say they are like granny shoes, but I quite like them.”

Yaz prompted a divided response from fellow social media users, as some adored the shoes’ aesthetic, while others weren’t particularly impressed.

One said: “I like them. I want the lighter colour ones.” Another commented: “Thanks to this video I went and got the darker pair with the furry inside – my bf [boyfriend] thinks they’re house slippers but I’m defo wearing them out with him.”

Someone else remarked: “I have these [heart eye emoji].” However, one user stated: “I wouldn’t even wear them around the house.” Another posted: “I’m good thanks.”

Dune also stocks the backless mule loafers featuring a faux shearling lining, which is priced at £109.

Additional high street retailers are offering comparable styles, including the Stradivarius Backless leather loafer clogs in beige, sold on Asos for £39.99. They have also proved sought-after, with most sizes from a two to an eight now unavailable.

Debenhams is stocking Where’s That From Honeybee Low Back Slip on Mule in camel and brown. The camel pair are now discounted to £47.99 from £58.99, while the brown is now £31.20.
